From ranked moment to clean editor handoff
Package the range, rationale, and campaign checks an editor needs to move from discovery to a confident first cut.

A useful handoff preserves the reasoning
Sending an editor a timestamp without context transfers the search problem instead of solving it. They still need to locate the source, understand why the moment was chosen, check the campaign, and decide whether the range includes enough setup.
A clean handoff puts the source range beside the campaign reason. It should let another person replay the candidate, understand the intended angle, and challenge the selection without reconstructing the entire review.
Include six practical fields
The handoff does not need to be a long document. A compact record is easier to scan and harder to misinterpret. Use consistent fields across every candidate so gaps become obvious.
- Source name and stable source reference.
- Start and end timestamps with boundary confidence.
- Working hook or angle.
- Campaign-fit explanation.
- Requirements already confirmed.
- Risks or open questions that still need review.
Separate source truth from edit direction
Keep what the speaker actually said distinct from what the editor might add. Transcript excerpts and source timestamps belong in the evidence. Caption ideas, pacing notes, crop suggestions, and possible on-screen text belong in edit direction.
This prevents a proposed hook from being mistaken for a verbatim quote and makes it easier to update the creative treatment without changing the underlying reason the moment was selected.
FIELD NOTEThe source range is evidence. The hook and treatment are proposals.
Close the loop after editing
When a candidate changes during the edit, carry the final range and any new risk back into the project record. Over time, those changes reveal where discovery recommendations are consistently too wide, too narrow, or missing a campaign constraint.
A handoff is not only the end of review. It is the link between selection and the decisions made on the timeline, which makes the next campaign easier to evaluate.
